CRLT hosted provincial recreation professionals event

The Community, Recreation, and Leadership Training Alumni Committee hosted the 11th edition of the National Day of Leisure Professionals of Quebec on April 20. This day is dedicated to recognizing and celebrating the dedicated work of leisure technicians.

This was this first-ever bilingual event and the first time Dawson / CRLT has been asked to host the event. The Gestion et Intervention en Loisirs program is offered in nine different CEGEPs across Quebec. Dawson College offers the only English-language CRLT program in the province.

Over 90 professionals, current students and faculty attended. They work in different recreation sectors and came from as far away as Rivière-du-Loup and the Outaouais.

The CRLT alumni were very resourceful in planning. They worked with their community resources and dedicated CRLT alumni volunteers to pull off a successful event. Second-year CRLT student Alex-Ernest Adolphe (a.k.a. DJ Lexxes) DJ’d and provided the evening entertainment.

To go along with the event’s theme of Take Time to Play, current students and alumni volunteered as activity animators, bartenders, servers, photographers and the MC’s for the night.

One of the event’s goals is to increase awareness of the profession and how broad and rewarding the profession of recreation is.
