Universal Design of Learning Workshop Feb. 20

Engaging All Our Students: The Basics of Universal Design of Learning

Today we live in a complex world, and we know that “one size fits all” does not apply to learning.  We hear about class ‘averages’ and ‘norms’ and use them to make assumptions about how to teach our courses. Dawson’s own Universal Design of Learning Community of Practice invites faculty to explore inclusive pedagogy and deconstruct the myth of the ‘average’ student. Participants in this workshop will be given the opportunity to identify barriers to learning and explore pedagogical approaches for inclusive course design that contributes to learning for all students.

At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Recognize the principles of UDL
  • Identify barriers to student learning
  • Connect these concepts to their own teaching practices
