Description
A visceral and formally radical exploration of the lives of women inside the criminal justice system. Birch constructs the play as a vast, modular architecture: dozens of scenes that can be assembled in different configurations, each one a sharp, compressed encounter between women whose stories the world has largely chosen not to tell. Unflinching in its portrayal of poverty, trauma, and institutional failure, [BLANK] is also a formal provocation, insisting that no single sequence of events can contain the full weight of these lives. A landmark of contemporary British playwriting, performed here by the third-year graduating students of the Professional Theatre Program.
