What if I want to take a course at a different CEGEP?

student looking up from a map at buildings in front of herIf you are a daytime student or a student in a Continuing Education program and you want to take a summer course at a college other than Dawson, an online permission form called a commandite must be submitted by a Dawson academic advisor. This is what you need to do:

Step 1. Do your research. Visit the websites of other colleges to see if they are offering the course you want to take this summer.

Step 2. Once you have the course title and number (as listed by the CEGEP you hope to take the course at), and you've informed yourself about the process that college requires of commandite students, contact advsecretary@dawsoncollege.qc.ca to book an appointment with an academic advisor.

Step 3. Follow all instructions for commandite students outlined by the CEGEP you hope to take the course at. Submitting a commandite form is not a guarantee that you will get a spot; each CEGEP prioritizes its own students and graduating students in general.

The maximum course load for summer school is 2 courses (3 if you can graduate by August). The maximum is the same whether you are taking all of your summer courses at Dawson, all of them at another CEGEP, or between two different schools.

IMPORTANT Fees Information

Take Note!

a piggybank wearing a mortar board, and little wooden student balancing on stacked coinsIf you plan to take your final courses and graduate at the end of summer school, you have two options for paying summer (S25) and/or fall (F25) fees added to your file:

Option 1

Pay your F25 fees, register for your S25 courses, pay the corresponding S25 fees and pass those summer courses to graduate, and then request reimbursement for F25 fees afterwards. Please address any questions about the reimbursement of F25 fees to studentfees@dawsoncollege.qc.ca.

Option 2

Submit a College Withdrawal Form for F25 in Omnivox, register for your S25 courses, pay the corresponding S25 fees and pass those summer courses in order to graduate. [This is a riskier option if you are worried you might not pass your final summer courses as it will not be straightforward for you to return and complete a failed summer course in the fall, having cancelled the F25 semester.]

To withdraw from the College, go to MyDawson → Registration and Course Change → Course or College Withdrawal/Drop Form.

For fees questions, please contact studentfees@dawsoncollege.qc.ca. All fees must be paid in full at the time of registration otherwise your registration may be cancelled.
