Seeking two Class of 2026 valedictorians

Would you like to deliver the final farewell address to the Class of 2026? We are seeking two valedictorians—one for each graduation ceremony on June 23.

Valedictorian candidates are:

  • graduating in Winter 2026 with a strong academic record
  • positive role models who demonstrate leadership and community involvement
  • articulate and comfortable with public speaking

Before you apply:

  • ensure you have RSVP'd to your graduation ceremony (check your MIO inbox for a message sent April 20)
  • and have the four required documents ready:
    • Cover letter and CV
    • Two reference letters: one academic and one regarding leadership/community involvement

Apply before Tuesday, May 19 at 11:59 PM by:
Logging into Omnivox and looking for → Graduation Ceremony → Valedictorian Application.

HAPPENING TODAY: STEMM FEM Gala

Join the STEMM FEM Gala tonight from 6 PM – 9 PM in 3C.1. It's a club dedicated to building a supportive community that empowers individuals from underrepresented groups to pursue and thrive in science and medicine.

Enjoy a panel discussion, a science club fair, raffles, a photo booth, snacks, and drinks.

Admission: $5, can pay at the door.

30% of proceeds will be donated to La Maison Bleue.

ALC Festival – Beyond Babel. Presented by the Modern Languages Department, this event takes place from 1 PM – 2 PM in 3F.43. Stop by to experience the ALC Festival: Beyond Babel.

THURSDAY | May 7

The Graphic Design Class of 2027 invites you to cool down at their lemonade stand from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM in the Atrium. Stop by, grab a refreshing drink, and support their fundraising efforts for the 2027 exhibition.

Newswave / Sonder Collective Vernissage. Explore works by student artists at the Newswave / Sonder Collective exhibition opening on May 7 from 5 PM – 8:30 PM at the Warren G. Flowers Art Gallery (2G.0). Meet the artists and experience an evening of contemporary art and conversation.

FRIDAY | May 8

Outdoor Spring Fair: Enjoy food, music, caricatures, airbrush tattoos, a photo booth, and sweet treats for current students with a valid Dawson ID. Friday, May 8, from 12 PM – 3 PM on the east grounds of the campus (Atwater/de Maisonneuve). Rain location: 3C.1.

Opportunity to do field research on amphibians here in Montreal

Biology teacher Jessica Ford is recruiting students to join the Ford Aquatic Biology Tadpole Lab (FAB TADS) at Dawson. They will be working at field sites including Creek 53 in Hudson, Mount Royal and Bois-de-Liesse parks. This work will contribute to a major five-year cross-Canada research project that is exploring how human activity is reshaping the country’s lakes.

Upcoming: Vernissage Season

Students graduating in seven programs have been hard at work creating original art and products and preparing for their end-of-year and end-of-program vernissage events, taking place from May 20 to June 5.

Be inspired and come support our graduating students in 3D Animation and CGI, Graphic Design, Illustration, Interior Design, Product Design, Professional Photography, and Visual Arts.

Reserve a study room or a table at the Dawson Library

The Library offers two single-group study rooms (6C.1 and 6C.3) that can be reserved in advance. Tables are also available for booking in multi-group study rooms (6E.2, 6E.3, 6E.4), where space is shared with other students.

Reserve a study space here up to two weeks in advance. Only available during opening hours.
