The Dean of Academic Development is responsible for a variety of services related to advancing academic development through pedagogical innovation, research, institutional project development, student success initiatives and program development, evaluation and revision. The Dean of Academic Development plays a key role in advancing Dawson College’s position as a leader in academic innovation in Québec and beyond.


The Dean of Academic Systems

The Dean of Academic Systems is responsible for admissions, registration, course change, student records, academic standing, scheduling, and academic advising. Services available through the Registrar’s office include College admissions, program transfers, equivalences, official transcripts, address changes, registration appointments, and other matters related to students’ academic files, as well as the timetable.


The Dean of Continuing Education & Community Services

The Dean of Continuing Education and Community Services is responsible for the management of activities, services, budgets and employees in the division (excluding employees providing registrarial services). This division is comprised of Continuing Education (credit), the Centre for Training and Development (non-credit) and Business Training Solutions. The Dean will also be responsible for the entrepreneurship and international initiatives.


The Dean of Creative and Applied Arts

The Dean of Creative and Applied Arts (CAA) is responsible for the Arts, Literature and Communications Program (ALC), the Visual Arts Program, Professional Theatre, Illustration and Design, Interior Design, Professional Photography, Graphic Design, Industrial Design, 3D Animation and Computer Generated Imagery programs and the eleven departments that are the major contributors to the specific education component of these programs. In addition, the Dean is also responsible for the English and French departments, which together account for more than half of every Dawson students’ general education component. There are currently more than 2,300 students in the programs in the sector.


The Dean of Science, Medical Studies & Engineering

The Dean of Dean of Science, Medical Studies & Engineering (SMSE) is responsible for Biomedical Laboratory Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, Computer Science Technology, Diagnostic Imaging, Electronics Engineering Technology, Laboratory Technology – Analytical Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Nursing, Physiotherapy Technology, Radiation Oncology, Science programs and Social Service as well as the departments that are the major contributors to the specific education component of these programs. There are currently close to 2,000 students in the programs in the sector.


The Dean of Social Science and Business Technologies

The Dean of Social Science and Business Technologies (SSBT) is responsible for the Social Science, Liberal Arts, Community Recreation Leadership Training and Business Administration programs as well as the departments that are the major contributors to the specific education component of these programs. As the largest sector in the college, there are currently more than 4,000 students in the programs in SSBT.
