The Dawson Blues Division 1 Men’s Soccer team captured the Provincial Championship this past Sunday by beating the perennial soccer champs, FX Garneau. The two teams were tied 1-1 after regulation and still tied after two white knuckle fifteen minute overtime halves. Dawson finally prevailed by scoring on all 5 of their penalty kicks while FX Garneau scored 4.

The Blues finished 6th during the regular season securing the last playoff spot, then beat 3rd place Vanier last Tuesday 5-1 to qualify for a spot at the Provincials. Saturday they defeated 2nd place Champlain St. Lambert 3-2 and Sunday defeated 1st place FX Garneau 2-1 in penalty kicks.

The Soccer Blues next challenge will be competing for the CCAA National Championship November 6th – 9th at the University of New Brunswick.

The Division 1 Women’s Soccer Team also completed a successful season with a Top 4 finish at the Provincials.
