Dawson’s Trevor Williams named CCAA Coach of the Year

Congratulations to Trevor Williams of the Dawson Blues on being named the 2018 CCAA Women’s Basketball Coach of the Year! At the Women’s Basketball National Championship banquet hosted by Mount Allison University in Sackville, New Brunswick. CCAA Coach of the Year winners receive a customized ring provided by Jostens Canada.

Williams, a former player with the Canadian men’s national basketball team, guided the Blues to an undefeated season with a sparkling 14-0 record along with a first-place finish in the Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec (RSEQ). Dawson went on to defeat Montmorency in the provincial final.

“Trevor has the ability to get the very best out of his players,” said Mai-Anh Nguyen, CCAA Women’s Basketball Convenor. “He was rewarded with a perfect season so far and I’m sure he’ll have his girls ready for the National Championship.”

Trevor’s association with Dawson has been a long and successful one. He started out here as a player and then in 1998 was hired as the head coach of the men’s basketball team. A few years later he became the head coach of the women’s Division 1 team. From day one he brought a championship mentality to the team. During practice you will often see him putting into action what he wants the girls to do.
