New School community from today and yesterday celebrated 50th anniversary
May 9th, 2024
About 150 current and former students, facilitators, faculty and friends of New School attended a 50th anniversary celebration at Dawson on April 13. For many, New School was a defining moment in their lives.
It was “really great to see so many people from such a span of years come out with fond memories of New School,” said Andrew Katz, an English teacher who has been teaching in the New School for the last six years.
Andrew, who served as MC, asked the guests what had brought them back to New School. Various guests in the audience offered answers: “community, acceptance, sharing, memories, inspiration, love, safe places, challenges, accountability, growth, laughter, humour, Greta, identity, empowerment, party, making a difference, humanism, activism, care.”

Join the AR Cité augmented reality tour May 16
May 9th, 2024
Over the past three years, Dawson students, faculty and local media professionals have been working together to create an augmented reality app, which is now available in the app stores.
Using image recognition and geo-location services, the app brings to life historical depictions, critical observations and artistic interpretations about our campus and the surrounding neighbourhood.
Students not only built the app, but they’ve also created dozens of multimedia vignettes, which teach us about the hidden stories that are all around us.
Join us on Thursday, May 16 at 3 PM in Oliver's (2C.17) where we’ll show off the app and then take a little tour of several locations on and around campus.
$5 tickets for grad production Lysistrata

Until May 11, the third-year graduating students of the Professional Theatre program will present an adaptation of Lysistrata. In this ancient Greek comedy, the women on both sides of a war band together and withhold sex until their husbands agree to peace.
Playwright Ellen McLaughlin has updated the script for the Dawson production, as we perform in the wake of the ongoing crisis in Ukraine and the Middle East. All shows are $5 for Dawson faculty, students and staff.

Beaucoup de plaisir à la Francofête
April 10th, 2024
Students and employees enjoyed three great days of programming at Dawson's Francofête just before the Easter long weekend.
Organizer and French faculty member Laetitia Desanti was very pleased with the participation and reported that the workshop and conference on maple syrup was a highlight :
"Les étudiants ont pu y apprendre des aspects très instructifs, techniques et amusants au sujet de ce sirop dont nous pensons tout connaître. Ils ont aussi eu l'occasion de déguster et de gagner des produits de l'érable. Cette activité a remporté un grand succès."
Graduation is June 25
April 10th, 2024
Exceptionally this year, Dawson’s graduation ceremony will be held after Saint Jean on Tuesday, June 25. The later grade deadline this semester is the reason that graduation is later this year.
Two ceremonies will take place at Salle Wilfred-Pelletier at Place des Arts. The Social Science and Business Technologies program graduates will celebrate at 2:30 PM, and all other graduates at 7:30 PM.
