Peace Week’s Dinner and Drag show choreographed by Theatre grad

Dawson Professional Theatre graduate Ken Antonio Rillo (Class of 2009) will be back at the College for Peace Week. He is the choreographer for the main act and lead dancer in a special Peace Week event called Dinner and Drag on Sept. 21.

Dawson’s first-ever Homecoming is almost here!

We brought your questions to Dawson’s Homecoming organizing team: Megan Ainscow (Class of 2004, Liberal Arts), Carey-Ann Pawsey (Class of 1990, Social Science), and Christine Layne (Class of 2015, Laboratory Technology- Analytical Chemistry).

Q: Who is coming to Homecoming?

A: As of Sept. 13, about 800 people have sent an RSVP to Dawson’s Homecoming 5 à 7 and another 800 have indicated that they are going or interested on the Facebook event page.

We know that retired and current teachers, graduates and current and retired employees are planning to attend.

Industrial Design graduate is 2022-2023 Chapeau, les filles laureate

Industrial Design graduate Aneta Chirowski (Class of 2023) is one of 67 young women in Quebec to be honoured with a Chapeau, les filles award for the 2022-2023 academic year. She was recognized in the Creativity category.

Closing in on 1,000 species observed on campus!

Outstanding Dawson individuals honoured with Forces Avenir awards

Three members of the Dawson community were honoured with Forces Avenir awards on May 4: students Kitenge Kayembe and Fred-Dgennie Louis were recognized, respectively, for commitment and perseverance. Physics faculty member Joel Trudeau was honoured for his commitment to students.

Dawson grads dominate Hudson Film Fest

Class of 2022 graduates of Dawson’s 3D Animation and Computer Generated Imagery Program won most of the prizes for emerging filmmakers at the 2023 Hudson Film Festival in April.

Interior Design student receives honourable mention in continental competition

Interior Design student Nho Phuc (Kap) Nguyen received an honourable mention in a North American design competition. His work was recognized from among 150 projects from Canada, USA and Mexico in the 2023 FORM Student Innovation Competition. The project was developed in Dawson’s 5th semester Furniture Design course taught by Phil Fontaine.

Student comes third in North American aluminum design contest

Third-year Industrial Design student Sarah Fatouros was awarded third place at the Aluminum Extrusion Design contest organized by the ET Foundation, which supports education and research on aluminum extrusion processes and technologies.

A student community built on sustainability is definitely a Forces Avenir

The student-run Dawson Sustainability Community is committed to supporting Dawson College’s award-winning, globally recognized commitment to sustainability.

Led by Environmental Science students Narcisse Hassan and Kaligua Rochon, the students have worked on a variety of projects that support Dawson’s goal of promoting sustainability through reconnecting people, communities, and Nature.

On May 4, Narcisse and Kaligua received a Forces Avenir award in the Environment category for their Dawson Sustainability Community project.
