Héma-Québec held a two-day blood drive at Dawson on Sept. 13-14 and a total of 121 students and employees donated blood. Of these, 31 were first-timers! Many first-timers said it was easy and that they would do it again.
M. Lauzon of Héma-Québec said that they exceeded their goal of 120 donors and that it was an “excellent” result, especially considering that they have been experiencing up to 30 per cent of no-show’s for appointments elsewhere.

The Support Options for At-Risk Students (SOARS) Referral Form can be found in Omnivox under the “Student Services” menu.

The Financial Aid Food Bank is always in need of non-perishable food items to replenish the shelves. Donations can be dropped off in the bin at 4.E2. A class of over 25 students reclaimed a concrete heat island on Dawson’s urban campus by transforming it into a wetland as part of a unique-in-Canada Physical Education course. The brand-new Eco-Landscaping course was co-developed by Dawson’s Physical Education Department and the Sustainability Office.
