Artists in Bloom raises $11,000
The Artists in Bloom fundraising event at Dawson College, held on April 16, was a vibrant celebration of creativity and community.
The 28th edition of the event raised $11,000 in support of student mental health and vernissage events for students in Illustration and Visual Arts programs.
“The talent of the 29 student artists and the support from the Dawson community” were the highlights for Carey-Ann Pawsey of the organizing team.
The energy in the room reflected not only the quality of the art but also the strong support from the Dawson community. One of the most sought-after pieces of the night was created by student artist Elsa Luo, whose artwork sold for an impressive $600.
Carey-Ann reported that “Feedback is always positive. People loved the event – art being produced in front of them, the excitement of the auction, kid’s corner, and live music provided by Dawson students.”
The Dawson community can look forward to the 29th annual Artists in Bloom event, set to take place in April 2027.
The success of this year’s event would not have been possible without the contributions of many. Special thanks go to auctioneer Geoff Kloos; the 29 student artists; the Artists in Bloom organizing committee (Neal Armstrong, Amanda Beattie, Michelle Lee, and Carey-Ann Pawsey); and beer sponsor Memento. Appreciation is also extended to the student musicians (Sarah Aouni on piano and Vanessa Hamilton on guitar), student volunteers from the Illustration and Visual Arts programs, and Dawson employees who supported the event, including Christine Layne, Christine Lister, Carmel Hatcher, Ron Resendes, Gillian Robertson, Gianna Smith, Trudy Ste. Croix, Nat Trepanier and Laura Valencia.
Finally, heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended and the Dawson College Foundation.
