Golf tournament lines up golfers, prizes and celebrities

The Dawson Golf Classic is set to tee off next week with a full roster of golfers, including familiar faces like Ray Boucher, Drago Kresevic, Paul Rastelli and Dave Nagels, pioneers of Dawson’s first 12 tournaments. The Classic has also collected dozens of prizes to be won, on-course games to be played and even a few celebrities.

Under the honorary patronage of former Dawson registrars Peter McAuslan and Ellen Bounsall who went on to found St-Ambroise Brewing and McAuslan Spirits, golfers will enjoy the company of former Hab Stéphane Richer and RDS on-air personality Valérie Sardin. Emcee Franco Taddeo will hold court at the cocktail reception, gourmet dinner and prize draws.

For some, the tournament is a family affair, for others, it’s time to reconnect with old colleagues and friends, and for our legion of suppliers, it’s a day among fellow trades and professionals to enjoy some time away from the “shop” that is Dawson.

There are still a few spots left for anyone who wants to support our students in financial need by playing or attending dinner at Summerlea Golf & Country Club on June 7. Dawson-friendly rates apply. All proceeds from the Classic will go to the Financial Aid Office to help students pursue their studies by alleviating some of their financial burden.
