Registration for Ped Days is on!

Faculty members and professionals are invited to participate in the Dawson College Pedagogical Days taking place next week from Tuesday, Oct. 13 to Friday, Oct. 16.

Registration is now open for the Pedagogical Days program.

Join your colleagues on Oct. 13 at 1:00 p.m. for a keynote session by Usha James entitled “Seizing opportunities and meeting the challenges of assessment in online, blended and physically distanced environment.”

Workshops following the theme of assessment will take place Oct. 14 and Oct. 15 at various times.

The closing keynote by Michelle Miller “Assessing for Learning: How Testing and Practice Help Students Become Expert Thinkers” will take place Oct. 16 at 11 a.m.

Usha James is the Executive Director of the Critical Thinking Consortium. She began her career as a high school teacher, then served as Director of the Secondary Program and as an Instructor with the Initial Teacher Education Program at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) at the University of Toronto. She was keynote presenter on critical thinking pedagogies at Dawson Ped Days in January 2020.

Michelle D. Miller is the author of Minds Online: Teaching Effectively with Technology (2014). Dr. Miller serves as Professor of Psychological Sciences at Northern Arizona University. She works with faculty at NAU and other institutions to improve their teaching practices and course designs, with an emphasis on evidence-based practices and innovative use of educational technology.

Registration for workshops will close tomorrow Oct. 8 to provide participant lists to the workshop presenters. Some sessions have capacity limits so register early! Keynote session registration will remain open until 1 hour before the session.
