Mitchell Rae Yang is the new Director of the Dawson Foundation

The Dawson College Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of Mitchell Rae Yang as Director.  Mitchell’s first day at Dawson will be Wednesday, November 1.

Mitchell joins Dawson after serving as Director at two different youth-focused community organizations.  Most recently, Mitchell served as ED of Project 10, a nonprofit community organization dedicated to supporting the well-being of 2SLGBTQIA+ youth. Mitchell was responsible for overseeing the organization’s strategic plan, finances, fundraising, board relations, external relations and staffing. Before serving as ED of Project 10, Mitchell served as Director of Programs and Strategies at Gender Creative Kids, a nonprofit focused on the betterment of non-binary and trans youth.

Mitchell has a BA in Women’s Studies from Concordia University and is about to complete his master’s degree in Sociology from Concordia University.

“The Foundation’s commitment to enriching the lives of Dawson students and addressing the diverse needs of the community resonate deeply with me. I can’t wait to get started and meet with students, staff and faculty to see how the Foundation can make a real difference by funding student projects and improving the learning environment,” said Yang.

The Board of Directors of the Dawson Foundation would like to sincerely thank Fred Jansen, who has served as a consultant to the Foundation since 2021 and made significant progress to ensure the Foundation’s administrative functions, tools and most importantly its actions were aligned with the needs of the community.  Fred will continue to support the Dawson Foundation in the near term to assist in ensuring a smooth transition.
