Please join us in Conrod's at Dawson College for an opening night vernissage on Wednesday, May 24 from 6 p.m.-9 p.m. Come and appreciate the artistry of our class while enjoying live music and refreshments, as we showcase our best photographic work and celebrate the culmination of our studies. The "Between Us" exhibition will be open until Saturday, May 28.

The Supporting Active Learning & Technological Innovation in Studies of Education (SALTISE) conference is dedicated to helping faculty discover evidence-based pedagogy that uses educational technology with the goal of leading to improved learning.
Each year it hosts national and international scholars and provides opportunities for local experts to share best practices in the exciting world of active learning pedagogy and the use of technology via its annual conference.
Educators as Designers: A Practice-Research Conversation is the umbrella under which the 2023 SALTISE Conference is operating. This year the conference will happen on June 12 and 13, 2023 at Concordia University. The conference will give attendees the opportunity to learn from a wide range of experts in their fields at talks, workshops and networking events.
Giving you a peek into what to expect, SALTISE has announced its keynote speakers and they are not to be missed! First is Diana Laurillard, who is a Professor of Learning with Digital Technology at the University College London in the U.K. Her keynote will be "Educators Collaborating to Innovate: The Roles Digital Technologies Can Play." Second, is Kelly Miller who will deliver a keynote entitled "Overcoming Challenges in Active Learning Environments." Kelly is a Senior Lecturer in Applied Physics at Harvard University.
Hosting and running the conference is a significant task that requires the support of many volunteers. You can volunteer for a few hours, and tasks may include registering attendees, directing the flow of people, preparing rooms, serving alcohol (for volunteers 18+), and cleaning up. Proposals to present at the 2023 Humanities and Public Life Conference are being accepted until May 31. The annual conference takes place at Dawson from Sept. 21 to 24.
The theme this year is "What's the Point? Purpose, Meaning, and Value in Challenging Time." Please see the call for papers for more details.
In 3B.6 and in the near hallway on Thursday, May 11 between 3 and 6 p.m., you are invited to participate, witness and be moved by the innovative and important work that has been made by this year’s Resist Violence class.
Whether making a political statement with hostile architecture, spreading awareness through paintings, or inspiring us to look at things from a new angle, student artists are working with testimonials, storytelling and performance art. Addressing what it means to be human today, pieces will surely provoke you to reckon with the world the way it is and find a new way to get "Home Safe."
This week, Dawson became one of the few places in Canada to host an exhibition by a nominee of the prestigious Sobey Art Award. Renee Condo is a visual artist of Mi’gmaw descent, hailing from the community of Gesgapegiag, Québec. Shifting Perspectives features her artwork constructed from wooden beads at the Warren G. Flowers Art Gallery until May 6. On a recent Tuesday afternoon, two visual arts students, Ella Gauthier and Alessandro Ruvo, had the opportunity to ask Condo a few questions.

It's the last week to go see The Trial, presented by the Professional Theatre Program!
Joseph K has been arrested—but for what crime? Adapted from the Kafka novel, the Trial is an absurdist comedy about the bureaucracy of the legal system. Directed by Michael Hughes and performed by the third-year graduating students in their final performance at Dawson.
