Project Fair 2025

The Electronics Engineering Technology Department will be having its annual project fair which showcases the electronic projects designed and built by our graduating students. Drop in at any time between 11:30 AM and 1:30 PM to see their creations. You decide how long to stay.

Mark your calendar(s) and come by to see some interesting and unique projects.

When: Monday, May 12, 2025, from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM
Where: Dawson College in CONROD’s (room 2F.4 located in the upper atrium)

Some of the projects that will be on display are:

Music Shop Guitar Tuner

This project is an audio processing device that displays the tune level of a guitar’s strings and sends the information to a web server for billing purposes.

Smart Security Access System

This project enhances the security by detecting motion to activate live video surveillance. It prompts the user to tap an ID card and enter a passcode, comparing both to a database for access validation. Administrators receive notifications about user presence and credential status via a webserver, where they can remotely override access if needed.

VisionVroom

This project is a revolutionary way to transport mail and parcels! It is an automated vehicle that uses real-time image processing to move along a designated path autonomously.

Smart Drink Dispensing System (SafeFlow)

The SafeFlow is a smart, contactless drink dispensing system that allows users to select from three beverages through a web interface, while receiving real-time updates on the machine’s status via both the web and an LCD display.

CheckMate

This project is a physical chessboard with a digital helper. Watching every move and guiding you along the way with the use of an embedded system. Chess reimagined!

Vitals-Pro

This project is an oximeter which checks how much oxygen is in your blood stream and it indicates your heart rate. By placing your fingertip on an oxygen sensor the measured readings are sent to a web page for review and storage in a database.

GrowSMart

This project checks the soil’s moisture and temperature levels to help keep plants healthy. It displays the current condition of the moisture like dry, wet, or very wet on a screen and sends the data wirelessly to a website. The system makes plant care easier by automatically watering the soil when it gets too dry.

Whac-a-mole

This project is a re-imagining of the classic arcade game Whac-a-mole. Within a set amount of time, the user would have to press buttons indicated by lights to turn them off and get points. The user running total is kept on a webserver along and saved to a database.

Recon Bot

The Recon Bot project is a wirelessly controlled car whose direction is remotely controlled by joystick along with a camera which is controlled by a website interface hosted on a Raspberry Pi.

Home Weather Station

This project is a home weather station system that monitors temperature, humidity and wind speed. Set it up outside your house and see the measurement on the LCD display screen or go to a web page to monitor current and past measurements.
