Montreal UN Conference hosted by Dawson drew 500 participants

Dawson College hosted the 7th Edition of the Montreal United Nations Conference on Nov. 20-22. This is an important Model United Nations event that welcomes delegates from both the Greater Montreal Area and abroad.

Resistance and Resilience opens Oct. 8

Following the success of Skénn:en: Peace and Decolonization (2017) and Queer and Peace (2018), Diana Rice (Programming Coordinator, Peace Centre) prophetically conceived of a project that would provide a space for those voices traditionally unheard and often ignored: Legacy and racialized immigrant communities. Once again collaborating with Rhonda Meier of the Warren G. Flowers Art Gallery, the work began in 2018 to create a platform for artists to display their experiences of racism and systemic oppression.

Garden gifts and volunteering spread joy

Golf and soccer players back in the game!

September 22nd, 2020

Great news! Sports are back! Our Div. 1 men's soccer team played Vanier College Sept. 18 and the Golf team played a college tournament on Sept. 19. Women's Div. 1 soccer plays against Cégep André-Laurendeau this Friday and the co-ed baseball team plays John Abbott twice on Saturday. Many athletes are still only training while they look forward to playing games again.

CLL is online!

The Campus Life and Leadership team is still trying to help students enjoy Dawson and get a campus life.

This semester CLL is doing things differently and has moved online to meet students where they are. A short video was produced to promote CLL online to all students.

Back to school week at Dawson

The big welcome sign was hung in the Atrium to welcome new and returning students for the first week of classes that began Aug. 31. However, it was a back-to-school week different from any other in the last half century of Dawson College.

Performance of Dawson student who placed 2nd in singing contest

Dawson student Aaron Dalangin won second place in the 2020 Intercollegiate Unplugged Singing Competition, which took place virtually on April 27.

First Int’l Math Day celebrated last Thursday

The first International Day of Mathematics (March 14) was celebrated at Dawson on Thursday.

Andreea Panait of Dawson's Mathematics Department reported: "We started the day with some wonders in Mathematics, then we moved to the history of Calculus and we ended with some applied math in creating interesting apps. To complete the day, we gave prizes for the math poster contest."

Students Sara Boubekri (pictured with Andreea) and Zaina Mahran were the winners.
