We would like to take this opportunity to recognize the vital contribution of teachers and to thank them for their dedication and their commitment to the education of our students. As a sign of appreciation, Director General Diane Gauvin offered a cup of coffee and cookies to all of Dawson’s teachers on Wednesday, Oct. 5. Thank you to our outstanding faculty!

Support Staff Appreciation Week begins Sept. 26. As a gesture of gratitude, Director General Diane Gauvin is offering a cup of coffee to all of Dawson's support staff on Wednesday, Sept. 28 from 9:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. in the 4A-4B corridor between the Director General's Office and the Academic Dean's Office. Thank you to all our support staff who provide service to every department and office!

Meeting in person for the first time since January 2020, the community was invited to attend the Director General and Academic Dean’s welcome back general assembly and lunch on Aug. 17. Nearly 500 people participated for what was also the first time Diane Gauvin and Rob Cassidy were able to convene the traditional Fall meeting since they took office in January and August 2021, respectively.

The large room in 3C.1 was dressed up in its finest to receive the 130 guests during the Recognition of Service reception and dinner. It was the largest gathering of its kind in Dawson history as the retirees from 2019-2022 were celebrated as were employees marking 25, 26 and 27 years of service.
The trend toward retirement truly showed itself as there were more than three times as many retirements, 101, as there were in the group marking the years of service, 33. The mood was light and convivial, and those in attendance were happy to reconnect after long absences due to campus shutdown or having taken retirement.
The last honouree to be presented with a gift and certificate was former Director General Richard Filion who retired in December 2020. He received a rousing introduction by Michael Goldwax, Chair of the Board of Governors, which was met with equally rousing remarks from Richard, who spoke of his admiration for the Dawson community, its spirit and its resolve, and to continue to fight the good fight for the benefit of our students.

Director General Diane Gauvin and Academic Dean Rob Cassidy wish to warmly welcome everyone back after summer holidays on Wednesday, Aug. 17 with a Dawson community lunch. It will begin at 11:30 a.m. and will take place in 3C.1.

It was so nice to have a big Dawson community event for the first time in more than two years! More than 800 students and employees were treated to ice cream and almost the same number enjoyed a BBQ meal outside on campus May 10. Food was served by our cafeteria staff and from food trucks and there was live music.
Thanks to Campus Life and Leadership, Student Services, the Dawson Student Union, Facilities Management, Information Systems and Technology and Director General Diane Gauvin!
