Sonic levitator kits for student labs

Engaging and cool kits were purchased that allow students in the Enriched Science Program who take Waves & Modern Physics to build sonic levitators (devices that use sound waves to suspend small items like pieces of paper or styrofoam spheres in mid-air). Students work in teams of three to build these devices as part of an enhancement activity within the lab portion of the course. These kits engage students in a largely self-directed activity that develops agency; second, they have to learn how to solder circuit elements, and; third they have to learn how to program an Arduino.
