What will you learn?
Students learn many skills that prepare them for a job in the field of computer science. Focusing on concepts, the program prepares students to work in the modern workplace leveraging industry tools, work flows and design best practices. Students obtain skills in:
- Creating robust software systems, including web, mobile and cloud-based applications
- Using multiple programming languages in various operating systems
- Developing analytical and problem-solving skills
- Learning algorithmic and logical thinking
- Becoming resilient and autonomous
- Working and collaborating as part of a team
By completing projects using modern technologies, students gain valuable understanding of all aspects of software development. By the end of the program, students are able to create complete projects, effectively test them, deploy them to the cloud, and maintain them over the software’s lifetime. With a particular emphasis on deployment, cloud services, and modern container tools, student are competitive with their university counter parts.

The program has an inclusive AI strategy that teaches students how to responsibly and effectively use AI as part of the development process. From examining the functionality and ethics of AI in the first semester, to using AI tools for development in the capstone project, Computer Science Technology at Dawson stays current with modern trends.
