Cinema-Communications: Media Night Winter 2017

May 12th, 2017

Dawson Media Night is the prime event for Dawson College’s Cinema-Communications department. Divided into four categories; animation, narrative, experimental and documentary, the screening features the work of students that, throughout the semester, have striven to create creative and professional material. Prizes are given, students host the event along with live performances, art installations in the lobby and food/beverages are offered.

Project Update

Another successful Media Night at Dawson College. The show was sold out with an audience of students, alumni, faculty and family members. There was over two hours of videos screened in the categories of Narrative, Documentary and Experimental, which were judged by alumni and current Concordia student Nancy Pettinicchio. She was joined by faculty member Jesse Hunter and Ameesha Joshi a professional filmmaker who’s current film With This Ring is on the film festival circuit.

The lobby of the Dawson Theatre had an installation from Riesa Levine’s Media and Society class, a mise-en-scene installation from Dipti Gupta’s class and a display of posters from Ramona’s Media Lab class.

Overall the event was a great achievement organized and programmed by the students, with seven awards given to students for their achievement in the craft of video making.
