CRC Robotics 2017

February 16th - 18th, 2017

Dawson College will participate in The Canadian Robotics Competition (CRC) being hosted at Vanier College. This event is open to high schools and CEGEP’s in the greater Montreal area. This would be the sixth year in a row that Dawson has participated.
This is a multi-disciplined competition with the following requirements:

  1. Design and build a robot able to perform a specific set of tasks
  2. Develop and build a website
  3. Make a short video
  4. Build a themed kiosk

Project Update

The theme this year was the classic ‘Sherlock Holmes” which was reflected in the design of the kiosk, website and video. Each teams starts with the same basic kit comprised of various motors, batteries and a control system that must be used in the robot build. In addition, there are strict deadlines for submitting the video and website. The objective this year was again challenging: to extract a large plastic spool from a stacked holder, position and launch it approximately 25 feet to the other end of the playfield in order to accumulate points.
Dawson proudly placed 5th out of 30 teams with honorable mention for sportsmanship, kiosk, and best in class robot design.
