Interior Design China Trip 2019

Four (4) students will travel to China to participate in joint student design projects, and cultural activities, along with students at Shanghai Normal University, Suzhou Art & Design, Technology Institute, and Hubei Fine Arts in Wuhan. The Dawson students would participate in design charrettes that would place each Dawson student with a team of Chinese students, and the design charrettes would incorporate visits to cultural sites.

Project Update

The four Interior Design students participated in a joint student design project (a charrette) and cultural activities at Suzhou Art & Design Technology Institute; and visited Shanghai Institute of Visual Arts (SIVA), where they interacted with students and teachers and also with high level design professionals at the TAO GROUP offices.  The designers at the TAO GROUP also teach at SIVA. The Students visited and interacted with teachers and students at a University in Hangzhou where three Dawson Interior Design students presented their design projects. Other activities that the students took part in were meting with teachers and students at Beijing Normal University where they were given a guided tour of a Calligraphy exhibition, visiting many cultural sites, including Urban Planning Exhibition Halls in Shanghai & Beijing, the Great Wall, and the historic neighbourhoods and contemporary buildings including many areas of the four cities named above.
