Studio Arts Exhibition Flyer

December 7th, 2018

The design and production of an exhibition flyer is a learning activity within the Studio Arts Integrating Activity course. The Comprehensive Assessment takes place in this course for the students registered in the Studio Arts Profile.

The flyer will contain the works created in the Studio Arts Integrating Activity course, some comments from the students, group pictures. Each student works on a self-directed project during the semester. The student draws on subject matter already explored in the program to create his (her) project, making links with previous explorations of materials, processes, techniques and concepts.

Project Update

One student Alexi Archambault brought his own 35mm digital camera and happily took the student’s portraits. Photo equipment was borrowed from the photo department with spotlights, diffusers, etc. Students were motivated to determine the title of the exhibition, the layout and the cover design for their exhibition flyer and to also add it to their portfolio. Taking charge and making decisions with an important event as an outcome, definitely impacted their self-confidence.

The focus of their artwork resided mostly on their own life experiences combined with the learning accumulated during their time at the college. Through the many conversations at the beginning of each class, the group became close. The entire class collaborated in organizing a bake sale for extra funds, coordinating the exhibition, printing labels for the artworks and shopping for food and other refreshments for the final event.
