CSSRA Rowing Championships 2018

May 31st - June 3rd, 2018

The Canadian Secondary School Rowing Association Regatta or CSSRA Championship has been held annually for over 75 years. Since the inception of the Dawson Rowing Team, the CSSRA has been the culminating race of each year of training. The CSSRA is the North American Championship event for (U19) High School crews. It is a highly competitive event, which takes place over three days on the Canadian Henley Race Course in St. Catherines, Ontario.

Project Update

Fourteen Dawson Rowers competed at this year's CSSRA Championship, one of North America's biggest regattas for U19 athletes in the sport. The three days of racing were the culmination of nearly a year's worth of daily training for the athletes of the Dawson Rowing Team. On the Men's side, a quad, a double and a single were selected and competed. The double (Ben Fisher and Elliot Grenier) having the best performance overall with a finish in the Final of that category. The women's team raced a quad, a coxed four, a double and single. The women's team made several semi-finals, the main goal for athletes eligible to compete in 2019.

Since the 2018 team was a relatively young one, many of the athletes that have attended the CSSRA will be returning to Dawson and its Rowing Team. Two notable exceptions, Sophia Cuoci, and Elliot Grenier have both been accepted to Western University in London Ontario and will be rowing for the Western Mustangs. Many of the Dawson Rowers, inspired by their experience at this year's CSSRAs will go forward both as the new leaders on the team and as more determined athletes.
