Queer & Peace

January 17th - February 9th, 2018

Queer & Peace is a Peace Centre and DSU collaboration that brings extra-curricular academics with fine arts. From Jan 17 – Feb 9th the Warren G Flowers Gallery will host LGBTQ artists’ works (student, emerging and professional artists) whose art will express a perspective on Peace & Resistance and/or Social Justice & Inequity. The exhibit will be dovetailed by panels, speakers and workshops geared towards students, and employees.

Project Update

The Queer & Peace Project was an incredibly successful project. The vernissage brought together students, staff and external public to see the art, interact and watch the live drag queen performance. Students helped to plan the vernissage as well as volunteered to run various aspects of it to ensure it went smoothly.

With respect to the speakers, each activity was very well attended. Depending on the speaker & venue each speaker garnered between 40-200 people. We receive a lot of great feedback from staff & students who attended the events.

The Art Exhibit itself was covered by the Concordian which helped to bring in more people to the exhibit as well, and encouraged non-Dawson participants in the speaker series.
