Olivia Francisco

Nursing

It wasn’t until I worked on the oncology/palliative care unit at the Royal Victoria Hospital that I truly understood what it meant to be a nurse. Taking care of people in their most vulnerable moments with compassion, empathy, and while maintaining their dignity is what the profession is meant to accomplish. This award is very significant to me as it recognizes the therapeutic relationship between the nurse and the patient, the aspect of nursing that I am striving to perfect.
